Power half hour -What is the Power Half Hour?  In the Power Half Hour we use HIIT to really maximise our workout in a short timeframe.
HIIT is a form of interval training, this basically means short bursts of intense exercise (normally 25-50 secs) followed by short recovery periods. HIIT is a form of cardiovascular exercise.  Usual HIIT sessions vary from 9–20 minutes. These short, intense workouts provide improved fitness, improved glucose metabolism, and improved fat burning. With HIIT your body doesn’t just burn fat while you’re exercising but will also continue to burn fat for the rest of the day and sometimes into the next!!  This is commonly referred to as EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption) and it means that you consume a great deal more oxygen recovering from the exercise bout than you would have if you'd just done a steady-state workout. The EPOC effect is what makes HIIT so much more effective than normal steady-state cardio where you only burn fat while you’re actually exercising. With HIIT you will be burning up to nine times more fat while sitting on
the couch later that night than you would have if you'd spent an hour on the treadmill at a moderate pace.
